Uncommon Valor
"Uncommon Valor; The Symbolic Language of WW2 Tattoo Art, celebrates the WW2 era designs, history and meaning behind the tattoo images that put the “Tradition” in American Traditional Tattooing. The book project began in 2020 which celebrated the 75th anniversary of the end of WW2, and I wanted to honor the anniversary with the BEST of Tattoo Art from Lyle’s incomparable collection of the era. We included never before seen pin-ups, eagles, Americana designs, acetates and features on Bert Grimm, George Burchett and many artists in Lyle’s collection; diving deeper into the history behind the designs worn by our American and allied serviceman. In hardcover, with 100 pages of bold, beautiful flash and history straight from Lyle’s collection and its correspondence with his tattoo heroes."
